Axalp 2018

The Axalp Air Show 2018 was my first visit to Axalp and offered truly breathtaking flight demonstrations high above Lake Brienz on the Ebenflue. Swiss fighter jets of the Boeing F/A-18C Hornet and Northrop F-5E Tiger II types, as well as Super Cougar helicopters, demonstrated precision and power, echoing through mountain valleys and over rugged cliffs.
The red Pilatus PC-21 trainers fly so close overhead that you feel you could touch them.
It was the last official live deployment of the Swiss Air Force’s Northrop F-5E Tiger II. It’s not too easy to get to Ebenflue (you have to hike/climb a lot), but it’s a breathtaking show.

This gallery captures the dramatic fusion of nature and aviation – a truly unique event where the rugged beauty of the Alps meets world-class flying skills. From morning until the main event, you can enjoy the training sessions and chat with other aviation fans. The air show follows right on time. The Swiss aerobatic team Patrouille Suisse kicks off the finale of the 90-minute show.
